Gloucester should be proud of its long history and association with the Jet Engine.
Britain’s first jet, the Gloster E28/39 (pictured above), powered by Frank Whittle’s revolutionary invention, first left the ground on 8 April 1941 at the Gloster factory-airfield between Gloucester and Cheltenham.
RAF Moreton Valence, situated at Junction 12 of the M5, opened in 1939, was a satellite of RAF Staverton and was used by an Advanced Flying Unit of Royal Air Force Flying Training Command, and also hosted secret tests of the Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle bomber.
We are in for an interesting evening!
Tickets (£5) are now available - CLICK HERE, or from [email protected], or text 07768 451071.
