Gloucester Docks, Then and Now
A HISTORY OF ONE OF GLOUCESTER’S BEST ASSETS
An illustrated talk by Tony Codner
Friday 27th January 2023
7-00pm at Minsterworth Village Hall
Gloucester Docks took from 1793 to 1827 to build and open. Described as Britain’s most Inland Port, and on what was at the time the world’s biggest inland waterway when it was first designed, the docks were key to Gloucester’s development as a manufacturing city in the second half of Victoria’s reign. This illustrated talk tells the story of their Victorian success and their subsequent rebirth as the place to live and visit in the modern age.
Tony is an excellent speaker, and so we look forward to an interesting evening.
Tickets (£5) are available below, or from rogerblowey@hotmail.co.uk, or text 07768 451071.
Wine, soft drinks and snacks will be available, so let’s make it a social evening!
